However, since our plant is not a certified gluten/wheat free plant, a person who has a severe gluten allergy could potentially react to our products. Therefore, we recommend our consumers check to see if the gluten free claim is on the label and read our ingredient list carefully and decide if they wish to purchase.

Nitrite is an essential ingredient in cured meat products. It is used as a preservative and an antibacterial agent. Nitrite minimizes waste by preventing spoilage and enhances food safety by blocking the growth of Clostidium botulinium and Listeria monocytogenes. Did you know around 85% of the nitrite in our diet comes from vegetables, most notably red beets, spinach, radishes, celery, lettuce, cabbage, fennel, broccoli, cucumbers and leeks; the remainder is from cured meat, fish, dairy products and drinking water. Nitrate forms nitric oxide, identified as one of the most important cellular signalling mechanisms in the body. Maintaining nitric oxide balance is critical for optimal health. Lack of nitric oxide can result in heart attack and stroke; both which are treated with dietary nitrite interventions.
